Starting the year in a national lockdown didn’t pose much hope for the many shows and events we had pencilled in the calendar. 2021 has been (unfortunately) an uneventful year due to the Covid-19 global pandemic outbreak forcing governments worldwide to impose strict lockdown rules and social distancing restrictions, which caused all shows, events, and meetings to grind to a halt.
Once lockdown restrictions began to ease and social distancing measures reduced, we started looking for opportunities to get back out and about nationally meeting people face to face again – rather than over the phone or through a screen!
Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2021 (S&FF21)
6-7 September, Olympia, London
To kick start our social calendar, we attended the Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2021 (S&FF21) at Olympia, London, back in September. This was our first time ever exhibiting at this show as Borderfields, and we were very positively greeted with a well-attended forward-thinking show – it was a pleasure to be a part of it!
This show marked the launch of our new Borderfields Gold Infusions range, which brought a huge wealth of taste-testing, positive feedback and even orders for our new product. This infused rapeseed oil range is exclusively available to small businesses, farm shops, delis and garden centres, available to order now through our website and with direct delivery to your door.
Festival of Food & Drink 2021.
18-19 September, Clumber Park, Nottingham
September was a busy month seeing us return to our first consumer show post-Covid, a favourite of ours to attend: The Festival of Food & Drink at Clumber Park. The show is famous for its live cooking demonstrations from popular TV culinary stars… some of which used Borderfields cold-pressed rapeseed oils and infusions to add big flavour to their dishes!
We were set up on a corner plot of the food market in prime position to meet returning and prospective Borderfields customers seeking our new and improved flavour infusions range. The garlic oil soared above the rest as the most popular flavour during taste testing, with the odd brave dare-devil opting for a mouth full of Chipotle chilli-soaked bread cubes!
Southwell Bramley Apple Festival of Food & Drink
Saturday 23 October, Southwell Minster
Another favourite local show of ours to attend is the 200-year-old Southwell Bramley Apple Festival of Food & Drink, a popular local festival open to the public inside the beautiful Southwell Minster, only down the road from Borderfields HQ in Nottinghamshire.
Located by the main West doorway of the Minster, we saw a constant flow of excited customers. Our newly launched 4 x 100ml gift packs boasting the new Gold infusions jumped off the table. Many to be gifted to friends and family this Christmas.
It’s always a pleasure to meet our customers and members of the public to share with them our locally produced products and new ways to use our oils in their cooking.
Farm Shop & Deli Show 2022
25-27 April, NEC, Birmingham
A date for your diary is our next B2B (Business to Business) show: Farm Shop & Deli Show 2022 (FS&DS22) 25-27 April, NEC Birmingham. The FS&DS was postponed twice from April 2020 to April 2021 to September 2021. We remain patient and hopeful for April 2022! We can’t wait to be back as we love to meet with other businesses to see where the market is and meet with current and potential new stockists who share our love for Borderfields and passion for great British products.
