You may not be aware, but this week is National Chocolate Week, and we at Borderfields and chocoholics alike are very excited about the nation’s favourite week. From the 12th to 18th October chocoholics around the country will be celebrating by indulging their sweet tooth, and we want to join in the celebrations.

The week is organised by Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet, founders and organizers of the Salon du Chocolat. It aims to promote the fine flavour of chocolate, the independent artisan chocolatiers and the chocolate companies who work in direct partnership with cocoa farmers, encouraging consumers to pay a fairer price for their chocolate.

Hundreds of events are happening around the UK with the best chocolatiers and companies. Hotels and restaurants also take part in the celebrations.  The week culminates at The Chocolate show held at Olympia National Hall, however if you can’t make that, or any of the others held up and down the country, we at Borderfields have some delicious ways in which you can still take part.

There are so many ways to enjoy chocolate and we have some fantastic and simple chocolate recipes for you to try. They all include our natural, British cold pressed rapeseed oil, which when used in our bakes creates amazing dishes which would satisfy any chocolate lover, whilst also making the dish a healthier option to one baked using butter.

If you have a passion for chocolate, and love to indulge in rich desserts then you can’t go wrong with Kenny Atkinson’s Dark Chocolate and Raspberry Brownies.

But if you are looking for something slightly less rich but still satisfies your chocolate craving, or if you want to make something spectacular for a party then Lottie Covell’s Banana and Chocolate cake is definitely for you.

Both of these bakes are guaranteed to put a smile on anyone’s face this chocolate week!
