Christmas – a time of fine food, family and … for some, faff! If you’re approaching the 25th December with a little fear, hopefully our Borderfields top tips for a stress-free Christmas will help you breeze through the festivities and enjoy them too.

  1. What’s on the menu? – Draw up a menu, research recipes and get planning. An early start will help you feel organised and in control….and breath.
  2. Ahead of the game – Cut out the panic and spend more time with family by making some impressive sides and puddings ahead of the big day. There’s no need to spend hours slaving away in the kitchen – even things like gravy can be prepared in advance and frozen.
  3. Don’t shop ‘til you drop – Once you have planned your recipes and numbers, you need to write the list!  Group ingredients in batches and start stocking up on your non-perishables like Borderfields Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil as early as possible. This will be less of a shock to your purse too!
  4. Sharing is caring – Whether it’s peeling the potatoes or bringing a dessert…don’t be afraid to call on the help of others…nobody should feel alone at Christmas!
  5. Make it one to remember – You can’t be expected to remember everything so note things down like last minute ingredients you need to buy or what time the turkey went in the oven.
  6. Easy does it – Just do three vegetables and do them well. There is no need to over complicate things. One single tray of roasted root vegetables tossed in cold pressed rapeseed oil and garlic and finished with a drizzle of honey is all you need. Ok, maybe some sprouts on the side – it’s Christmas after all!
