Don’t go rushing to jump in your longship just yet, it’s the rapeseed rich Viking diet that we’re talking about.

The Daily Mail reported last week that a Nordic diet full of fish, vegetables, berries and of course, rapeseed oil, can reduce the damaging effects associated with being overweight. It could also help prevent health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

Researchers from the University of East Finland studied participants who suffered from symptoms of high blood pressure and obesity. They followed the Nordic diet for a period of 18-24 weeks and the results showed an improvement in participants’ cholesterol and inflammation levels. This is great news for health conscious rapeseed oil fans.

When enjoyed as part of a balanced diet, cold pressed rapeseed oil has been shown to help reduce symptoms, such as obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease. Click here  to find out about the best cooking oil for people with diabetes and some top tips for cooking healthier meals.
