At Borderfields we’re passionate about good food and everything British.

That’s why shows like Great British Bake Off and MasterChef are right up our street – we love them. The current series of Masterchef the Professionals just got even more exciting last night when friend of Borderfields and head chef at Newcastle’s wonderful House of Tides restaurant, Danny Parker, took centre stage to battle his nerves and impress super chef Marcus Wareing, the internationally acclaimed Monica Galetti and the show’s presenter Greg Wallace.

Danny exuded confidence right from the start “Can I win it? Course I can!” he said, as he got off to a flying start. His dish to impress was a beautifully presented plate of quail, poached and blow torched to finish, and served with quail eggs and a raisin puree. Compliments don’t get much better than a top chef like Marcus Wareing telling you “If you want to be noticed in cooking – that is it.” Go Danny!

So, watch this space, he is certainly one to watch. We’re going to be catching up with Danny soon for recipe inspiration so in the meantime good luck to him and all the fantastically talented chefs taking part in MasterChef the Professionals!
