ingredients
SERVES 8-12
300g light brown sugar
200g granulated sugar
200g Borderfields cold pressed rapeseed oil
4 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
125g cocoa powder
100g flour
150g 70% dark chocolate, melted
Zest of 1 orange
Sea salt and segments of chocolate orange to top
method
- Preheat your oven to 180˚C/. Mix the flour, cocoa powder and salt together in a small bowl. Then in another large mixing bowl whisk the oil, sugar and vanilla together. Add in one egg at a time and keep whisking for 4-5 mins until you have fully incorporated into a batter. It should lighten a little in colour.
- Gently fold in the cocoa powder, flour and salt. Then add in the melted chocolate and orange zest.
- Line a greased baking tray – I use the Borderfields spray oil to get a light coverage.
- Pour the batter into the tray and spread out with a palette knife. Then add segments of chocolate orange. Bake the chocolate orange brownies for 40 mins. Cool on a wire rack and cut into squares. This gooey chocolate brownie is delicous served warm with vanilla ice cream.
